How to move a store from Wix to Shopify
A Wix store moves to Shopify in three parts: the products travel as a file, the pages are rebuilt, and the old addresses are redirected. Shopify's own migration guide offers four routes, from copying by hand to hiring a partner, and the product file is the part that saves the most time.

1. Export the products from Wix
In Wix, the product list has an export under More Actions. It produces a CSV file of the products and their data. Wix states two limits: 5,000 rows in each file, and no export for digital products.
2. Fit the file to Shopify’s template
Shopify imports products from a CSV file laid out in its own template. Download the template from Shopify, and copy the Wix data into the matching columns: title, description, price, variants, image addresses. Check a handful of products by eye before importing the rest.
3. Import, unpublished
In Shopify’s admin, open Products and choose Import. Shopify’s advice is to leave the products unpublished at first, so that they can be checked before customers see them.
4. Rebuild the pages
The home page, the information pages and the blog do not travel. Rebuild them in Shopify’s theme editor, copying the text and images across. Rewrite product descriptions that were thin on Wix: a move is the moment to improve them.
5. Set up the redirects
Shopify puts products under /products/ and collections under /collections/, which will not match the Wix addresses. Shopify advises setting up URL redirects before the domain moves, and lets them be imported from a CSV file. List every Wix address beside its Shopify address, and import the list.
6. Move the domain
Point the domain at Shopify, or transfer it. Leave the Wix store running until the Shopify store has answered at the domain and a test order has gone through.
7. Check after launch
Submit Shopify’s sitemap, at /sitemap.xml, in Google Search Console. Test the old addresses, and read the Page indexing report weekly for a month. Our guides to a Shopify store not showing on Google and why a Shopify store is slow cover the two problems new stores meet first.
Questions people ask
Can I import my Wix products into Shopify?
Yes. Wix Stores exports products as a CSV file, and Shopify imports products from a CSV file in its own template. The Wix data is copied into Shopify's columns before importing.
Does Shopify have a tool for migrating from Wix?
Shopify lists four routes: copying data by hand, its own Store Migration app, which it describes as early access, third-party migration apps, and hiring a Shopify partner.
What happens to my Wix store's Google rankings?
The rankings follow the redirects. Shopify uses its own address pattern, so every Wix product and page address has to be redirected to its Shopify equivalent before the domain is switched.
