Compete in every market you sell to.

Each country has its own search results, its own competitors and its own way of asking for what you sell. We structure your site so every market gets the right version, localise the pages that matter and work market by market against the competitors who hold each one.

What decides each market

  • International site structure

Domains, subfolders and hreflang set up so each country and language is served its own version, without the versions competing with each other.

  • Localisation, not translation

Pages rewritten for how each market searches, in its own terms, currency and conventions.

  • Technical consistency

One standard of speed, structure and structured data across every market version, checked automatically on every change.

  • Market-by-market priorities

Where the gap to each market's competitors is smallest, and who they are, so effort goes where it counts.

How search differs from country to country

Every country has its own results. The same search made in two countries returns different sites, and a business that leads at home can be absent abroad. A search engine chooses which version of a site to show each visitor from the signals the site gives: its structure, its language and the hreflang markup that connects one version to another.

Translation is the smaller part of the work. People in different markets ask for the same product in different words, and a page translated word for word answers a search nobody there makes.

What the report compares across markets

For each market you sell to, the report reads your site beside the competitor you name there: how the versions are structured and connected, what each market's pages cover, and how they load. Markets are then put in order of how small the gap is in each.

Questions about international markets

Do we need a separate website for each country?

No. Google's guidance lists three workable structures: a domain for each country, subdomains, or folders within one site. Whichever is chosen, each version is marked for its language and country with hreflang, so that a search engine can serve the right one.

Which market should we start with?

Start where the gap is smallest. The report reads each market separately, and the one with the smallest gap to its leading competitor usually repays the work soonest.

Is hreflang enough to be found in another country?

No. Hreflang tells a search engine which version of a page belongs to which country and language. The page still has to answer the way that market searches, in that market's words.

Free competitor gap report

Name up to three competitors in the markets you sell to. We measure your site against theirs, market by market, and send you a report showing where each one leads and what to fix first.

  1. Speed and technical health, side by side
  2. On-page SEO and site structure
  3. The content they are found for and you are not
  4. Who holds the searches that matter in your market
  5. A prioritised list of what to fix first
